Examining the lowest Markle basalt horizon (Flow No. 18 of the Clyde Plateau Lavas exposed in the Campsie Fells). The Markle Basalt contains large elengate phenocrysts. The party includes members of the Geological Society of Glasgow. Excursion to Campsie Fells, 8th June 1968.
